I was reading a story in Cascadia Daily News about local breweries, and it got me thinking how cool it would be if that type of content linked directly to business listings. Imagine reading an article about a new café and then immediately seeing its hours and reviews without having to search. Do you think working together with local media like that would actually help both sides, or would it just make things more cluttered?

That’s a smart idea — collaboration with local media could make discovering businesses so much smoother. I get the same feeling when checking Crumbl cookies flavors this week near me, since everything you want to know is right there in one place.

Whenever I’m looking through local news, I usually end up saving links or screenshots to check later. It’s kind of messy, though, because I’ll forget where I saved them. Having stories and business info more connected would probably cut down on all that back-and-forth, and make it easier to act on ideas right in the moment rather than leaving them for “later.”
I can see real value in that. I remember searching for new lunch spots after seeing a food piece in the Herald, but I had to dig around to find details. If media outlets collaborated more with sites that list bellingham businesses, it’d be smoother for readers — less jumping between tabs. Plus, it would give smaller shops extra visibility when they’re mentioned in articles, which might help them get noticed by people who’d otherwise miss them.
